Open a High Yield Savings Account
I talk about this all of the time over on Tik Tok, but it’s truly so important.
A high yield savings account is normally offered at online banks and can offer up to 1% APY (annual percentage yield).
To give some perspective, your normal savings account at your bank is probably offering around .05%.
That is free money you are missing out on just for switching where you keep your money!
Some banks require a minimum deposit, but there are some that have no fees and no minimum deposits. Both Ally and Citi offer HYSAs with no minimums!
Another added bonus of opening up a HYSA that is separate from the bank you normally use is that you won’t be as tempted to move money back and forth between checking a savings.
Out of sight out of mind!

Download Fetch Rewards
I hate being inconvenienced with coupons, okay? I also hate taking receipts. So as great as some coupon apps are in theory, I never really used them.
That was until Fetch Rewards! With Fetch, you can hook up your email and they will scan for e-receipts! This literally takes 2 seconds and can end up giving you tons of cash rewards back on purchases that you’re already making anyway!
Plus with this link, you get a bonus 2,000 points just for scanning your first receipt. Any receipt!
It’s worth the minimal amount of time that you have to spend on it. I would not suggest buying anything just because they are offering points. But if you’re buying things anyway, might as well make some money off of them!
Call and Ask for Cheaper Phone/Internet
This was something that I had to learn the hard way. They are not going to tell you the cheapest option for you unless you ask.
You can even leverage and say that you are looking around at cheaper options, but would love to stay with their company if they have something comparable.
Negotiating is your friend! I got our internet bill cut in half just for calling to see if there was a cheaper option.
And it made no difference in our internet experience!
Most of us need the basic internet package that allows us to stream Netflix and have a couple of Smart TVs hooked up.
You don’t need all of the extras that you’re paying for but never use.

Close Bank Accounts With Fees
Seriously. This is 2020.
You should not be paying fees on your checking or savings accounts.
There are plenty of banks out there that don’t have any fees.
If you are stuck in one that is charging you a monthly fee, or requires a minimum to avoid that fee that you never seem to be able to make, let it go. Move on to bigger and better things.
My savings and checking accounts with Capital One 360 have no minimums and no fees. And so far I have loved what they offer and the convenience of using their app!
Download GetUpside
I recently found out about this app and it is awesome!
This app allows you to save money on gas and will tell you exactly how much you are going to save just by going to that gas station and using the app.
You have to get gas to get around, so you might as well start saving on it!
GetUpside is seriously so awesome. Use the code “LEXA4674” and you’ll get $14 just for using it once to get cash back on gas.
That’s free money! Why would you not??
